The DataScientia Event 2025: Community, Projects and Education

DataScientia to host its annual workshop at University of Trento (Italy) with partner universities across the world, from Europe, to Asia, to Africa and South America.

The 2025 edition of the annual DataScientia event will take place this October in Trento, Italy, bringing together partner universities from around the globe. The first day of the workshop will be dedicated to reflecting on joint projects and collaborations carried out over the past year. Highlights will include institutional greetings from Luigi, Director of the DISI department at the University of Trento, followed by a strategic overview from Fausto, the coordinator of DataScientia. Key sessions will feature experiences from partner institutions in China, South Africa, Uganda, and Cyprus, covering topics such as joint labs, MOOCs, ethical data collection, and the work of the DataScientia network in preserving and analyzing languages from around the world.

The second day will focus on strengthening and supporting the DataScientia community. The agenda includes presentations on the growing DS Ecosystem, including the Citizen Platform, which enables researchers and participants to engage directly in scientific activities. Education will also be a central theme, with updates on new MOOCs and collaborative training programs. Additional sessions will explore how DataScientia supports personal data collection efforts and how members can become more actively involved through subscription plans and in-person meetings. The event promises to be an inspiring platform to deepen global partnerships and shape the future of inclusive and ethical data science.
